Writing to Te Atatu South  We really enjoyed writing metaphors about ourselves on postcards to a Year 5/6 class in Te Atatu South.  As you will see in the photo, the back side of the postcards join together to make a message.  As part of this work we also had to put together a poster with information about us.  Here are some of our favourite things: When pieced together our postcards formed this message. GETTING TO KNOW OUR BUDDY CLASS... This week we met our writing buddies from the new entrant class, Kindle 1.  We explored our interests and discovered what similarities and differences we had.  We created a sketch of our buddy and recorded our ideas on a venn diagram.

An outstanding week of challenges, excitement and fun! What a rewarding experience for all of our year 6 students.  Its been great to hear all the stories of their adventures at Camp Iona.  Archery, gorge expedition, camp cook out, search and rescue, kayaking on the pond are just some of the favourite activities mentioned.  Each child has gained confidence in some way, and new friendships have been formed.  There are so many great photographs that the children will have access to as they write about their experiences over the next few weeks.  Here's some photos our student teacher Mr Tait took.

Our year 5's have had an awesome week.  Lots of learning outside of the classroom taking place.  We have been taking notice of new and interesting things.  A highlight so far for many of the students has been the rock climbing and propagation work at the Botanical Gardens.  They are working together so well and making the most of all the opportunities.  We look forward to hearing all about camp when our year 6's return on Friday.  There will be some very tired children this weekend!
